Enemies
03:39
|

I've got too many enemies in this town
I'm looking down a different barrel every time I turn around
Some want to shoot me down, they want to see me gone
Some want me doe-eyed crying while they're riding off at dawn
What an idiot passion that I had for you
I wanted to believe your soliloquy's of love were true
Under these late night skies you were only peddling lies
Trying to sell me depth down at the shallow end of the pool
And I'm leaving, leaving today
I got my suitcase, I got my ticket
I'm heading far away, far away
I've got too many memories in this town
I'm looking in a different mirror every corner that I turn down
Sometimes I want to hide
I want to bury all I've ever done said and tried
Scratch my name out of this hall of fools
I've got to get out of here
I think I'll go down to Katie's house and try to disappear
Cause I've been feeling like 'ole Cpt. Ahab
Trapped in a raging waters and slowly going mad
I'm leaving, leaving today
I got my suitcase, I got my ticket
I'm heading far away, far away
What an idiot passion that I had for you
Was talking to me like talking to you
I gave you too much power over everything I ever buried, bloomed, and flowered
and I don't know if I'm more mad at me or you
I'm leaving
I'm heading out Sunday
I got my suitcase, got my ticket
I'm heading far away

Seraphina

|

I heard you might travel this way
maybe next fall you could come and stay
and we can go drink at one of five dive bars
and wait beneath the darkening sky for the same old stars
In a town with one pony, one trick, and one season
I'd ask you to stay if I could find you a reason
Seraphina
May the sunsets shine golden upon your head
When the dawns cold air comes knocking at your window
I hope you have enough blankets for your bed
I'd like to travel your way
maybe next spring I could come by and stay
cause I've grown tired of this same old song and dance
and I don't know where to hang my hat or where my boots were last
In a town with one pony, one trick, and one season
I'd ask you to stay if I could find you a reason
Seraphina
May the sunsets shine golden upon your head
When the dawns cold air comes knocking at your window
I hope you have enough blankets for your bed

Feels So Bad
02:06
|
|||
You kill me
Stone dead
and I feel so crazy
Doe-eyed at the end of your bed
I love you
and I'm so mad
that I love, love, love you
cause it Feels so bad
I hear your voice
Coming through the phone
And just for a moment
I don't feel so alone
I love you
and I'm so mad
that I love, love, love you
cause it feels so bad

Brumbies
03:30
|
|||
When we were small time darlings
all cosmic and pride
We whistled with our lot
had instinct on our side
When the glaciers used to melt
of their own volition
And the Brumbies broke gentle
without suspicion
Like a bolt from the Blue
I realized all my bills were due
And like lightening from above
I realized the wages never went up
When we were wild horses
when no fault was found
Didn't know we were carouseled
impaled and going around
When the world meant more than nothing
it was out there waiting for us
To finish off our fries
Say our goodbyes and catch that last bus
Like a bolt from the Blue
I realized all my bills were due
And like lightening from above
I realized the wages never went up

You're the saddest boy in this whole town
All this playing it cool isn't it really getting you down
Don't you look nice and don't you look slick
but how can you sleep at night with all that light up on your wick
Hell hath no wrath like a man who didn't get his way
I thought that we were friends and you thought you were getting laid
was every laugh we had just some kind of flaccid trick
how can you sleep at night with all that light up on your wick
Are you happy to see me or is that self sabotage
you keep in your tight little pocket with your grateful dead on
I forgot more about you than you know about yourself
you keep that wick up right and burning bright up on your top shelf

Standby
03:04
|
|||
If the world were coming to an end
I would run into your arms again
but the world keeps turning on
you're in the arms of another and I'm walking on
Seems the days are all getting darker
when you left the sun seemed to rise out of spite
If you asked I would walk through burning fire
just to stand by your side
If the world ended tomorrow
and if I could forgive your lies
I would forsake all of my sorrow
just to stand by your side
If the sky folded like paper
If the stars turned out all their lights
I would find you amid all that darkness
just to stand by your side

Death Wishes
03:47
|
|||
Someday someone will be kicking my bones around
and all that rolling will be good down the mountain through the neighborhood
You and me are just bones to be rattling around and graveyard bound
It don't matter what we do as long you got me and I got you
It won't be long now
before were dead and in the ground
so if you're stuck at work washing the dishes
coming up with a few death wishes
remember it wont be long now
till were dead and in the ground
Lets go see if we can find an apple tree to pillage
or perhaps a peach within our reach with no wrath or ruin
For you my friend I would bend any branch for breakfast
whether heaven dared it or hell could spare it for you my friend any chance would merit
It won't be long now
before were dead and in the ground
so if you're stuck at work washing the dishes
coming up with a few death wishes
remember it wont be long now
till were dead and in the ground

Melodies
03:47
|
|||
In the dark afternoon when the spotlight sleeps
I'm alone in my room with my crumbling cornbread dreams
In the cathedral of my bones
filled with organs heavy as stones
I sing out a melody so I don't feel so all alone
At glass o milk dawn all fenced into my neighbors lawn
the barking hens are making bets on when I will get out of bed
so I crackle and I rise
I pull the sleep from out of my eyes
and I hum a few melody while my coffee sighs
I go out walking where the walking goes
I grin at trees and I spit 'em some prose
I go out walking down the street
with my hands in my pockets and my boots on my feet
and in the dark afternoon when the moon has woke from her sleep
I ramble down to the bar for a drunken soliloquy
perched stool wise I sink deep
stuck in circles till that last call sweep
under waning neon
I mumble out a melody
When that hangover sun comes up and all that sleeping in my eyes is still stuck
I dream my lonely smut
and I sing out no melody
And I wait patiently for some new hell in me
to turn over the seasons
and invent me a few new memories
All alone in my room
with my melting moon pie dreams
I'm a useless fidelity made of feathers and of cream
Well, the words they're not hard to find but the music is a mystery
I'll tell you true that its a lie when I say melodies
come easily

Hey,
It's Evel Knievel
He's up there on the steeple
He's going to ramp jump over god's love
On a 1962 Thunderbird Dove
He's jumping and he's gleaming
He's going a bow
Oh, our beautiful champion
He's really got the crowd going now
He's got his '67 Triumph Tramp
He's going off the world's biggest ramp
in his chariot of electric green
He's jumping over eight black stretched limousines
